Automotive engineering is in the middle of a structural shift. Electrification, ADAS and software-defined vehicles have created demand for capabilities the sector didn't previously employ at scale, while traditional mechanical and powertrain expertise remains essential.
That produces a specific hiring problem: organisations need people who understand both the new domain and the automotive context — the safety standards, the validation discipline, the supplier relationships, the product cycles. Software engineers without automotive exposure struggle with the constraints. Automotive engineers without software depth struggle with the work.
